Our organization, AAC or African Aggies Coalition put this show together and it was wonderful. We had other schools in the state of North Carolina to come out and associations that donated money to our efforts and so on. I, Winifred, am on the E-board and I am the secretary and I noticed something yesterday that I felt I needed to address. When we were there yesterday at the event, some people were acting funny, if I may say. I feel that when students at the colliegate level showcase and event in their organization, it"s to bring people together. We as Africans need to come together. In our organization, we have Sudanese (South), Nigerians, Ghanians, Congolese (Kinshasa and Zaire), Kenyan, even African American and hopefully many more to come. I just feel that we need to bring ourselves together because if Africa cannot come together, black people around the world will be doomed. If Nigeria is truly the "GIANT" of Africa, then we need to prove it. In most other nations in Africa, tensions are less because they do not have so many different tribes and languages that are shared between – million people. If Nigeria can begin to celebrate difference and learn tolerance, we will again be an example to other African nations and eventually, all Black nations in the world. It has to start with someone and who better than us? Let us come together as a people, as one. Let us embrace our various cultures and be educated. There are more similarities than diffresnces among us. Let us realize that. I seek to help bring my people together and it"s a lifetime mission which I feel that whateve profession I choose to go into, I will make sure I achieve it. I want to see the beautifull land of the black one again. It"s not about what tribe your from, your religion, or political stance, etc. that makes you. It"s who you are and where you are from and no matter what anyone says, we are all from Africa, as long as your black, that"s a fact that still holds true. I beg and charge our African communities to begin to make this change possible. Our land is beautiful and our people are beautiful, let us believe in the change to progress ourselves and embrace all that we hold dear. << Back to Blogs | Post a comment << Back to Blogs Comments:~ 14 years ago

It pains me when I see other races show and maintain their cultures in the western world while we Africans - I hate to call us black - imbibed the western culture as if we had none. We have such a beautiful and rich culture and land and we are still blind to see it. The problem with naija...I will continue to say it ...is purely the lack of discipline, responsibility and selflessness. We deceive ourself with too much religion without adding the responsibility that follows. we are to individualistic and selfish that we don't care about others... ~ 14 years ago

I'm willing, are you? Thanks for this great piece! Let's multiply the 'Total Recall' message.
