Olanma or Ola as she is popularly called,is the first and the only child of mr Obasi; mr Obasi died of pneumonia because he was exposed to cold as a result of his job as a night security man in a company; his death left Obidiya Ola's mother a devastated and lonely woman,she spends most of her time reading her bible, she hardly goes out to visit people,not even her close friend mama Chika whose hobby is gossiping; she now goes to Umuada women meeting once in a while ,unlike the way she use to attend;sometimes,she sits on the floor at one side of her bedroom quietly talking to her self,just like the way Obaru the mad woman at Nkwoha Market use to sit talking to her self; this always make Ola to cry whenever she sees her mother in that mood. Ola still remember the day her father was being buried,although many people were crying, she could notice the loudest voice among them,that was the the voice of Elder izundu; ola felt that she and her mother alone knew why Elder izundu was crying and rolling on the ground; some people who doesn't know who Elder izundu was, had pity on him,and were consoling him,thinking he was Ola's uncle; but the reason he was crying loudly was because Ola's father borrowed alot of money from him and couldn't pay back before he died,which means that his money is lost.
Ola's adventure with men started when she was in her junior class in secondary school; her first victim was Mr Kalu the Chemistry teacher at Bishop Ebeneezer Girls secondary school Ogbaku; every student like and respect mr Kalu,because of the way he talks when he teaches in the class; even at the church, he was always called up to read some bible passages,because he reads some of the stories in the bible as if he was there when it happened,which makes some elderly women to shed tears,the day he read about how Judas betrayed Jesus, their were alot of noise from the elderly women,some of them couldn't hold back their anger, Mama Anna,who happen to be the oldest woman in the church stood up in annoyance and was cursing Judas loudly,it took the intervention of elder ebekwe the church warder to calm her down. mr kalu always boast in class that he is happily married,and loves his wife and children so much; but what surprises some people is how young girls goes in and out of his house,as if they were going for a pilgrimage,and this always happen any time his wife and children travels to visit his sick sister inlaw;Ola's visit to mr kalu's house when his wife traveled, turned his house and marriage Upside down; after sleeping with mr kalu, she stole Mrs Kalu's trinket box and their marriage certificate......(to be continued)
