IN A CONSCIENCELESS SOCIETY
If our conscience were our guide,we would have been better off.Unfortunately we are living in a conscienceless society where every and anything goes.We are comfortable or do I say happy when we see our brothers suffer and wallow in penury and always at the mercy of the overlords.Worst still,we tend to add to their already bad case by traumatizing them further with such nomenclatures as "miscreants","urchins","never-do-well","low life",among others.The privileged have succeeded in reducing the less privileged to "materials" that can only be used and dispensed with when the need arises. How best can we explain the quest for power and the desperation to cling on to same even against the will of the people by some individuals and their croonies perpetually as if it were their birthright often resisting change with such vehemence that is better imagined than experienced.They kill,maim and destroy just to remain relevant and in charge.They create chaos and cry wolf where there is none,just to further emasculate our already depleted and graoning commonwealth under the pretence of proffering solution to the imaganery issues they created in the first place.We need to reawaken our conscience.Do we really have conscience when some fly in private jets worth millions of dollars when all your neighbour needs might just be a meal to see the dawn of another day or a drug as common as panadol to survive but cannot afford same and flying in our high horses,we were unable to stoop in order to be their neighbour.We live in same neighbourhood yet,we are worlds apart. In an office,the privileged travel,attend serminars and enjoy all the privileges therefrom and never bothering about those on the lower rungs of the ladder.Even the pittance that gets to the commoners is either irregular or usually unnecessarily delayed.The surbordinates practically beg for what is actually their right.Where is our conscience.The situation is as pathetic,just as it is heart rending.Without conscience,we are no different from the animals.How best can we describe a society such as this if not a conscienceless one.Why do we call our brothers and sisters by names that do not consoladate our oneness as a people of one nation? We need to reawaken our conscience to save our society.
