for me as I was growing up. In the last few years, we had a strained relationship, but slowly we were talking again and I was looking forward to building a better relationship with him. I wanted to spend time with him and get to know the real man behind the cold exterior he so often portrayed. But that will never happen. I wasn't even there when he died, although I spoke to him and told him I loved him, the day before he died. He couldn't talk as he had lost his ability to speak, but my mum said he understood everything I said.
I feel so many emotions right now. I feel sad, angry, shocked and guilty. I should have been more present for him. I should've called him more often and visited more often. But it is too late, I'll never get the chance to do those things. He'll not be walking me down the aisle whenever I get married, nor will he see the children I may have someday. I'll never get to hold his hand and walk with him in a park. I have to let go, he's gone
